Goju Kai Karate Academy succeeds at Ekurhuleni All-Styles Development Tournament
JOHANNESBURG - A TOTAL of 12 junior members of the Goju Kai Karate Academy in Linksfield attended the Ekurhuleni All-Styles Development Tournament held at the Wits education campus on 9 May.
The Linksfield dojo sent 12 of its members to the tournament.
“This tournament is held to develop youngsters who are new to the art of tournament karate. For many it was their first tournament, and it takes great courage to step into the unknown. Thanks to their hard work in the tournament preparation sessions, they performed admirably on the tatami [mat] and the results show that.”
The dojo achieved 21 medals in total, including seven gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals. “They executed their drills and tactics remarkably well and came back to the dojo very excited about their medals,” added Sensei Russell Sim.
