The former Platinum Stars coach said he was happy with his team’s form so far, but admitted that there was still a long way to go until the end of the season.
“We have lost some games we should have won and drawn others, and we are hoping to continue with the momentum into the second round of matches,” said Freese.
He attributed his team’s success to support from management. “The league has been a challenge but the management has responded well,” he said.
“When we came into this ground [Balfour Park] it was not that good, but the management has helped us and that has motivated the players.”
Highlands are currently on 28 points after 16 games and are hoping to qualify for the promotional play-offs which could see them play in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) next season if they win.
Freese said the NDF league was a great challenge for him after his coaching stint in the PSL.
“As coaches we must try and accept the challenge, but since I came here I have enjoyed it.”
