Sponsorship boosts Norwood Young Stars
NORWOOD - Norwood young stars owner Venita Masisi was delighted with the new sponsorship the team received from a good Samaritan, and hoped that it can propel them to even greater heights.
Norwood Young Stars owner, Venita Masisi, was delighted with the new sponsorship the team received from Good Samaritan, Asekunle Ojo, and hoped that it would propel her team to even greater heights.
Made up of mostly West African players, the team competes in the Alexandra North Rand Local Football Association Promotional League.
“I am very happy with the sponsorship,” said Masisi.
“We have been begging for help since 2013. We are ecstatic now, my boys are so appreciative and grateful, it means a lot to us.”
Stars are currently enjoying a rich vein of form and are on top of the log with their main striker, Osi Miniru, being the leading league goal scorer with seven goals.
Ojo said football has always been part of his life and he was inspired by seeing young players giving their best and trying to make it to professional level.
“It is up to the players now to prove their worth. We can put all the money and facilities in place but the players have to show up,” he said.
“If you are a good player you will rise, regardless of the circumstances, your football skills will speak for you.”
Miniru added that it was all up to the players now. “All that is left is for us to do our best on the field and take our football careers further,” he said.
