Office teams go for gold in the 947 challenge

In the spirit of the Olympics, 947 radio station and Samsung called on Joburg’s office workers to show their sporting spirit by participating in the Samsung Go for Gold Office Challenge.

Teams participated in five challenges, Chair rowing which required 3 seated team members to push off with both feet to the finish line. Office tennis, where players used clipboards as rackets and a crumpled up piece of paper as a tennis balls.

In Synchronized office chairing, teams came up with a synchronized dance routine seated on their chairs dancing to their favourite track. The fourth was the Spin doctor where one teammate sat on an office chair while two others spin the chair as fast as possible for 20 seconds and the seated contestant ran to the finish line several metres from his chair and lastly Weightlifting where colleagues lined up in order of their weight and were lifted over the challenger’s head.

Greg and Lucky 947 presenters every weeknight between 7pm and 10pm were on the prowl for the best teams.

“We go to three offices a day filming the teams and going for gold,” said Lucky in video encouraging office teams to participate. “If a team has been selected as the winner of the day they win R5000 cash.”

Voters also stood a chance to win R3 000 cash if they voted for the winning team.

Boss Models in Dunkeld West and the Creative Council in Corlett drive took the Office tennis challenge and The Creative Counsel emerged victorious scooping the R5 000 prize and a listener who voted for them walked away with R3 000.

Friday 19 August was the last day that teams could enter and participate in the challenge.
