Chesanyama sponsors national 5-aside soccer tournament

Chesanyama, the flame-grilled food franchise has thrown its weight behind the development of local soccer with the sponsorship of the Chesanyama Cup Soccer Tournament.

The national 5-a-side tournament is being held in partnership with Discovery Soccer Park, owners of the 5-a-side soccer facility at the Wanderers Club.
Bafana Bafana legend, Mark Fish, has been appointed as the tournament’s ambassador and will be involved in the roll out and activation of the highly anticipated tournament.

The event will consist of two tournaments – the inaugural regional tournament takes place at Discovery Soccer Park on 19 November followed by the Durban leg at Gateway Shopping Centre Rooftop on 26 November.
The national final will take place at Discovery Soccer Park on 10 December, with the winners of each regional tournament going head to head to be crowned champions.
CEO of the food franchise, Stelio Nathaniel, said the brand was committed to contributing positively towards the development of sport in South Africa, specifically soccer.

“We believe this is only the start of a long and fruitful partnership between Chesanyama and soccer in South Africa. Over our four-year history, we have always had a strong commitment to supporting the communities in which we operate,” he added.
Each tournament will begin with a round-robin group stage, which will then go into a knock-out stage leading up to the final.
The winner of each final will win R5 000 and the grand prize for the winning team is R20 000 plus an entry to an International Federation of Corporate Football tournament, with details being launched globally later this year.
Ryan Kalk, CEO of Discovery Soccer Park, said the partnership with Chesanyama reaffirmed the company’s commitment to bringing South Africans of all walks of life together to enjoy the country’s favourite sport.
“Discovery Soccer Park remains steadfast in its commitment to making a real difference to the development of the next generation of sport in South Africa,” he said.
The tournament is open to men and women over the age of 16 and to all corporate and social teams. Entries cost R1 000 per team of eight players.
