You’re invited to fun bowl’s competition in Lombardy East

LOMBARDY EAST – Join a bowls tournament to raise funds for various charities.

Anyone interested in seeing the best of bowls fun in competition on a mixed field of able-bodied and disabled players is invited to pop in at the Lombardy East Bowls Club.

The competition will be a day of fun bowls, competitive bowls, music, food and a great atmosphere – and entrance is free.

The event is organised by Accumulo Consulting and it will take place on 1 April.

Philip Neville, CEO of Accumulo Consulting, said their organisation has, over the past six years, played a key role in promoting the game of bowls in South Africa.

Neville said their commitment has grown from sponsoring a one-day corporate bowls tournament in 2011, to what has become the biggest and most sought-after tournament in the country.

Neville said that in 2016, the CEO said the Accumulo Bowls Festival was expanded to include three tournaments held over three consecutive weekends, with each tournament being geared to cater for bowlers at club level, district, national and international level and disabled bowlers, respectively.

The common denominator is that each tournament runs in parallel with a fundraising drive for various charities, the main ones being Pink Drive or More Balls Than Most and Disability Bowls.

“Accumulo’s focus is to support bowls and, at the same time, raise much-needed funds for worthy causes – irrespective of how big or small either the tournament or the charity may be. Which is why we have come on board to sponsor the upcoming Accumulo Fun Trips that will be held at Lombardy East Bowls Club this Saturday,” said Neville.

He said many accomplished and past Protea/Springbok bowlers who are members of the Old Edwardians Club will be participating in this competition to raise the level of play within the element of fun and encouragement.

There will be a nominal charge for tea and/or lunch on the day. Play starts at 8.30am.
