Faf for Sale?
JOBURG – Emirates Lions scrum-half, Faf de Klerk, could put pen to paper with English rugby side, Sale Sharks, who have reportedly offered de Klerk a three-year R21-million contract.
Emirates Lions scrum-half, Faf de Klerk, has been the subject of much discussion about his future in South African rugby.
The English rugby union club side, Sale Sharks, recently made known their plans to recruit the services of the scrum-half. A contract deal, reportedly worth R21 million over a three-year period has been extended to the diminutive star player.
In stark contrast, however, the Lions Rugby Company confirmed to City Buzz that they are currently in negotiations with Sale Sharks regarding the contract offered to De Klerk, and will only make a statement on the issue once the player has returned to South Africa.
“Negotiations are under way and I have not signed anything regarding the offer to Faf,” said Rudolf Straeuli, Lions Rugby Company CEO, in a statement.
“The team is focused on their third game on tour and an official announcement will only be made once they are back.” The Emirates Lions face the Brumbies in Canberra on 12 May and will arrive back in the country on 14 May.
