Local Jacoba Academy director on the move

Sandringham – New football director is set to boost players' confidence to inspire them to do more.

Sandringham based football academy, Jacoba Academy said it was proud of their football director, Tiro van Rooyen, for putting them on the map.

Van Rooyen has joined the South African U17 national team, Amajimbos, as a technical analyst. Since joining the team he has worked extensively with international and local renowned coaches and also accompanied the team to Mauritius for the Cosafa Cup tournament.

Dimitri Athanasopoulos, chairman of the academy, said, “I think it’s fantastic that we have a national asset [Van Rooyen] as part of our academy…we will advance our football capabilities on and off the field.

“It’s great to have a performance analyst on board running his football philosophy through his technical and tactical master plan on how to play, thus being able to create an identity of play that best defines Jacoba Academy.”

He added that they were privileged to have Van Rooyen on board helping to drive social development through football.

“This is also a great way for our players in Jacoba Academy to get an opportunity to get exposed to the national team.”
