Balfour Alexandra Football Club wants youngsters to join and carve a career for themselves

BALFOUR – Local club is calling on interested young players who want to carve a career in football to join their teams.

The Balfour Alexandra Football Club in Highlands North is calling on youngsters join the club by attending its open day and registration for new players from 4 to 7 February.

Registration of U6 and U7 players will be on 4 February, U8s and U9s will take place on 5 February, U10s and U11s will be registered on 6 February and the final day will be reserved for the U12s and U13s.

The open day and registration will be held at the clubhouse on Louis Botha Avenue just behind the Balfour Mall and interested youngsters and their parents are urged to attend on the specified days to explore their opportunities and see the club’s facilities as well as meet the coaches.

Balfour Alexandra FC is affiliated to the Absa Premiership team Highlands Park FC, better known as the Lions of the North and playing for the Balfour team opens doors to join the Highlands Park Academy and begin a serious career in football.

The various age division teams train twice a week and play matches on the weekends against other clubs in Gauteng.

“In 2018, the club boasted 280 members with 23 teams competing in the Easterns League Football Association,” said Matthew Strydom, the managing director of the Balfour Alexandra Football Club.

“Balfour managed to pick up two titles as well as four second places in 2018.”

The vision of the club is to prepare and develop young children from all backgrounds into gifted players who can eventually enter the Highlands Park FC Academy which competes in the Gauteng Development League.

Strydom said the club was also focussed on developing coaches and equipping them with the necessary tools to take the club’s football activities to the next level.
