Alex Royal Tigers Sports Club continues its good hunt in the Map Games 201
ALEXANDRA -– Alex Royal Tigers SC are continuing the good hunt in the Map Games 2019 tournament as all the four divisions of the club have reached the semi-finals.
Alex Royal Tigers Sports Club has achieved a milestone by being the first club in the history of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association to reach all the four semi-finals of the various divisions of the Maimane Alfred Phiri (Map) Games after carefully plotting their hunt for glory in the tournament.
Tigers have qualified for the semis in the U13, U15, U17 and U19 divisions of the tournament whose finals are scheduled for 16 June which is Youth Day.
The editor of Alex News Sipho Siso met with Tigers founder and owner Thembinkosi ‘Tiger’ Matholengwe during one of his ‘spying missions’ to size up his opponents in the semis of the U13 division.
I congratulated him for the feat and asked him to confide in me his secret muthi that had propelled all his divisional teams into the semi-finals and he retorted, “There is no muthi Bra Sipho. Maybe my muthi then would be hard work and putting those extra hours and carefully perfecting the tiger hunt.”
Tiger, as he’s fondly known in kasi football circles after his surname Matholengwe (cubs of tigers), told me muthi may have played tricks in football years ago but today it has no place in football. “It’s simply hard work and non-stop training that does the trick.
“Bring them [opponents] on,” he said. “I am ready for whoever I may meet in the semis and will plan and strategise accordingly.”
