WATCH: Fight breast cancer tournament is held

DOORNFONTEIN – The Breast Cancer soccer tournament held in Doornfontein yields successful results.


Following a successful event held last year, this year the Breast Cancer Tournament attracted more players, followers and supporters.

Soccer players, both girls and boys competed for trophies and medals in the tournament held at End Park in Doornfontein.

Organisers Amabhubesi said the tournament was held to raise awareness about breast cancer and also aimed to empower young girls to participate in the soccer tournament.

WATCH: 

“Our role in this awareness was to help the teams know more about breast cancer and support women,” said Yancy Ncube of Amabhubesi.

A total of 10 teams participated in the tournament with four female teams.

Rising Stars from Berea won the U10 division and U15 boys’ division while Doornfontein triumphed in the U12 division.

For the girls, Rising Stars were tops with Eleven Stars from Jeppestown runners-up.
