Action-packed three-day hockey festival

The Independent School Hockey Festival took place over three days with day two being interrupted by bad weather.

St John’s College hosted an action-filled, three-day Independent Schools Hockey Festival from April 27 to 29. The school in Houghton welcomed 10 teams that played two games each on day one. The games were played in quarters. The festival aimed to give schools that don’t often get to play each other a chance to test each other out.

The school’s first XI started off on the first fixture of day one against York High School and unfortunately narrowly lost to York. The first XI ended their run with an emphatic 3 – 1 victory over Uplands White River in a highly entertaining fixture. The rest of the matches were also a great spectacle, with the teams providing thrilling encounters to see off a successful day of hockey.
