Wanderers women’s 1st hockey team takes the win over Shumbas Hickey Club female A-team

The Wanderers women’s 1st hockey team ended the first half of their season with an intense match, and a 2–1 win over Shumbas Hockey Club.

The Wanderers women’s 1st hockey team rose to the occasion, securing a 2–1 win, against Shumbas Hockey Club’s female A-team on June 13.

While Shumbas led the first half of the intense game, Wanderers was quicky to catch up, and eventually win.

Wanderers 1st team captain Ashleigh Redhead said it was not an easy win.

“It was an intensive last game of the first half of our season. Both teams today are part of the top six, so we knew it was going to be challenging.”

Speaking to the warning cards given by umpires during the game, Redhead admitted that there were frustrating moments.

“The game was challenging at times. There were moments where we got upset, but the girls played well.

 

We have a lot of women in university who are part of our team, who performed well and helped the rest of the team get to this point. I am proud of them.”

The Shumbas Hockey Club female A-team declined to comment.
