Roedean hosts learn-to-swim gala

PARKTOWN - A GALA was held at Roedean Primary School for participating schools of the learn-to-swim initiative on 20 March.

The initiative was started after the realisation that there was a need for swimming skills in under-resourced schools. With this concept in mind, each of the participating private schools partner with an under-resourced school and teaches swimming skills in that school.

It was hosted at Roedean School and was attended by Houghton Primary, Roedean’s partnership school; Waverley Girls High; St Mary’s partnership school; Parkhurst Primary; and Kingsmead Girls’ partnership school.

Cheered on by pupils from Roedean Junior School, the gala was a fun-filled and a joyous celebration, as the children showcased their swimming skills and proudly competed in the gala events.

The children were treated to a well-deserved snack box and goody bag after the gala.
