Day of love at place of light

MABONENG PRECINCT - The place of light will become a place of love this Valentine's Day, with more on offer than ever before.

The precinct’s offerings will enable people to celebrate their love for one another and for the city, in the city.

Lovebirds could enjoy an open-air cinema experience with a screening of New York, I Love You on the rooftop of Situation East.

The all-star cast features Shia LeBeouf, Natalie Portman and Bradley Cooper, among others. The film is a collection of several love stories set in one of the world’s most loved cities. Doors open at 6pm, and bookings can be made through The Bioscope.

Alternatively, spend the evening with your someone special at a dinner in one of the precinct’s exclusive penthouses with a backdrop of the Joburg skyline.

Enjoy strawberry martinis on arrival, a wide selection of unique dim sum, wine, and The Blackanese’s famed sushi specialities. End off the evening with one of the dessert cocktails.

Seating is limited and bookings are essential.

Maboneng Precinct brand manager Hayleigh Evans said, “We’ll also be spreading the love with a charity exhibition at Arts on Main; The Bioscope’s traditional anti-Valentine’s screening of True Romance; celebrating the love of women in She Bellows at POPArt; celebrating love for friends with a Love for All party at Living Room; and celebrating couples and singles with an explosive party at MOAD.”

All restaurants in the precinct will run Valentine’s Day specials on the evening.
