Art inspired by cities
MABONENG - Arts on Main will be hosting an exhibition entitled Forms S/W by Rodan Kane Hart. The showcase, Hart’s third in two years, comprises a body of work which consists of sculptures, drawings print and technology.
The exhibition will take place until 31 March and will have viewings from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
The body of work, influenced by South African and English cities, follows on from his previous works which focused on the constructed notion of a South African city.
The artwork also focuses on formal influences of European Classisism, Modernism and Post-Modernism.
Hart has made use of an array of artistic mediums to present the historical and personal logic behind his abstracted works.
The charcoal, black and white drawings were inspired by architectural and natural forms found in cities such as Manchester, Leeds and London. The sculptures, on the other hand, will include smaller and more intimate pieces; a contrast from his renowned life-size steel sculptures. The exhibition will also include lithoprints presenting the progression of line to shape and subsequently to form over four stages.
The exhibition is hosted by Nirox Projects in Maboneng.
