John Newman dazzles Joburg

NEWTOWN - Thousands of fans flocked to Town Hall Lane for four-time Brit Award nominee John Newman's concert, and weren't disappointed.

The 23-year-old soul-inspired singer treated fans to his hit singles Losing Sleep, Love Me Again and Cheating in a performance rated as one of the best visual shows in the world at the moment.

Speaking on behalf of local promoter Seed Experiences, Mike Pocock said Newman lived up to expectations as he and his fans “dressed the part, got their swing on, and revelled in an unforgettable, roaring, swinging concert experience”.

Cape Town-based chart-toppers, Beatenberg, supported Newman’s Johannesburg performance, while ISO opened for him in Cape Town.

“Complementing the hyped atmosphere, the king of swing, DJ Michael Lesar, was on the decks throughout the night,” said Pocock.

“Town Hall Lane, known for its grunge and street artwork, took on a vintage twist, transporting the crowd back to the suave swing era.”

He added that the Virgin Mobile SA video booth, which offered concert-goers an opportunity to be part of the John Newman live in SA fan music video, was a huge hit with fans.

“Adding to the Newman magic, 5FM were on hand to offer fans the chance to fill his shoes with the John Newman Photo Bomb Opportunity and get a signature streak in their hair,” he said.

“The tour offered fans an intimate experience with the soul sensation and a memorable night of top music, stunning visual performances, and the most swinging party yet.”
