It was with these words that Nando’s presents Mass Hysteria, a stand-up comedy tour that brings politics to the people, was unveiled.
Now in its third year, the tour features a new ‘cabinet’ of comedians who have taken oaths to make South Africa a funnier place.
“I do swear that I will… disrespect and poke fun at… all other hilarious laws of the Cabinet; and I undertake to hold my office as minister with honour and humour; to be truly hilarious; not to divulge directly (but through my spokesperson) any secret matter or another comic’s material entrusted to me; and to perform the functions of my office with half-hearted vigour and to be fired up by comedy,” the oath continued.
The new Cabinet includes John Vlismas as Public Attacker; Tumi Morake as Minister of Hormones, Carbohydrates and Calmettes; Nik Rabinowitz as Minister of Mental Health, Sunday Lunch and Personal Hygiene; Alan Committie as Minister of Headucation and Literasy; Chester Missing as Minister of Non-Human Settlements; Joey Rasdien as Minister of Haircare, Skincare and Aponea; Ndumiso Lindi as Minister of Culture; and Mpho Popps as Minister of Single Fathers and Roads.

Nando’s presents Mass Hysteria will take place from 6 until 9 August at The Teatro, Montecasino, Fourways.
The tour will also visit Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.
