Gird your loins, live music lovers – the Vodacom In the City festival will return to Mary Fitzgerald Square in October.
Brian Little, managing director of organisers, Seed Experiences announced multi-award winners Rudimental and British alternative dance band Crystal Fighters as the first two international acts on this year’s stage.
Pioneering melting-pot collective, Rudimental who won a 2014 Brit Award, have taken the British music scene by storm.
Their debut album, Home was released at number one of the UK charts.
“Championed for their uncompromising approach to music-making, their huge drum-and-bass-meets-soul anthem and number one single Feel the Love helped them to achieve international recognition,” said Little.
“Mixing live instrumentation with digital programming creates the band’s organic sound… Expect a uniquely awesome performance from this lot, they are notorious for rocking the masses on the global summer festival performances…”
Crystal Fighters, known for their energetic and engaging live performances, describe their sound as a mixture of folk, electro, punk, techno, dubstep and Spanish pop.
The band’s debut album, Star of Love was released to critical acclaim in 2010, followed up by their 2013 sophomore release, Cave Rave.
“The acts we’ve secured are huge on the international scene right now. Crystal Fighters and Rudimental played top slots at Coachella, one of the world’s largest and high-profile music festivals,” he said.
“We know from experience that the artists we have chosen will bring our fans an amazing experience from beginning to end, and that’s our and Vodacom’s main goal.”
More international acts will be announced in the coming weeks.
As part of the 2014 festival launch, Vodacom is offering a limited exclusive launch ticket discount through the network’s Voucher Cloud app.

The discount is only available on purchases made through the app, is limited to four tickets per customer, applies to general access tickets only, and the discount is redeemed on purchase.
The festival will take place on 3 October at Mary Fitzgerald Square, Newtown.
