Telkom attempts to break a world record

FERREIRASTOWN – Movie fans had better get ready because Telkom will be hosting a Guinness World Records title-attempt with the Telkom Unlimited Movie Marathon that will be taking place from 8 to 13 December at the Sheds @ 1 Fox Street.

Everyone is invited to see how long they can last against the Guinness World Records record attempt. Challengers will have to watch movies continuously for 122 hours to break the world record for longest marathon watching films.

Telkom will be streaming movies over its Boltspeed fibre network 24 hours a day to power the event. Record breaker Suresh Joachim, from Canada may have lost his titled to Ashish Sharma in India in 2008 but he’s back to reclaim it. Ten local movie fans will be battling it out against each other and Suresh, as they all strive to be the last participant standing. The current record stands at 120 hours 23 minutes.

A number of movies of all genres will be screened over the event, catering to all tastes and ages. Food and drinks will also be available from the market vendors at The Sheds. The ticket cover charge will go towards Lifeline, which is a network of counselling centres and other services offering support to those experiencing emotional distress.

The Telkom Unlimited Movie Marathon will take place at the Sheds @ 1 Fox Street, 2 Fox Street from 8 to 13 December.

Tickets cost R30.
