JOIN IN: The Bike Show filmed at vibey local venue
GREENSIDE – The Rim and Rubber Assembly, a niche motorcycle-themed restaurant which recently opened in Greenside, became the home to The Bike Show and for the first time ever, the show was filmed in front of a live studio audience.
Many bigwigs in the motorcycle industry attended, including renowned MotoGP journalist Mike Scott, who was interviewed for the show.
The name of the show is self-explanatory and is presented by three of South Africa’s top motorcycle journalists, Mat Durrans, Harry Fisher and Donovan Fourie. Durrans and Fourie were recently given the honour of being the first motorcyclists to ride around the newly upgraded Kyalami Racetrack.
Apart from racing around the world’s finest racetracks or being jetted off to exotic locations to test the latest bikes from the likes of Ducati and KTM, the trio chose The Rim and Rubber Assembly to host their show because of its unique layout and retro set-up.
Classic motorcycles adorn the walls and it even boasts a motorcycling accessory shop and a fully equipped motorcycle service centre.
Fourie thanked everyone for coming out on the evening to see the show being filmed live, as well as the restaurant for being so accommodating.
“Everyone seemed to have a good time,” said Fourie.
“We hope all bike enthusiasts will come see our live recordings on Wednesday nights to be part of our live studio audience.”
Leanne Champion, who runs the restaurant alongside business partner Craig Bosman, said they were really excited about partnering with The Bike Show in their new-look broadcast for 2016.
“We believe it’s a very healthy synergy and we will certainly benefit from carrying the credibility of the show,” said Champion. “Mat, Harry and Donovan emulate the very principles we stand for: bike passion and good fun.
“We believe the show also benefits in that they now have a totally neutral, totally ‘vibey’ backdrop from which to talk all things bike and they can feed off the energy of a live and enthusiastic crowd which Rim and Rubber Assembly easily accommodates. Long may it last,” concluded Champion.
