Idols’, Karabo, is all about the love

JOBURG - City Buzz had the chance to chat with one of South Africa’s newest musical icons and he’s all about spreading the love.

Karabo Mogane, who is known just as Karabo to his adoring fans, is the winner of Idols South Africa season 11. The Nelspruit native moved to Gauteng following his success on the hit TV show.

Being signed to Universal Records, the recording label based in Rosebank’s Design District, the small town boy was forced to adapt quickly to the fast-paced life of a Joburger.

Talking about life in the big city, he said, “I’m always in the city. All of my meetings are scheduled in Braamfontein and Auckland Park and other parts of the city.”

When asked about how life in the city had been treating him, he explained that the traffic was the hardest part to get a grip on.

“The traffic around here is terrible. It’s the hardest part of living in the city. I have to start my day after 10am to avoid peak morning traffic and return home after 6pm to avoid peak afternoon traffic.”

On his music, Mogane talked about working on new songs for his album which he would like to release next Valentine’s Day, and his current album that he was working hard on to get heard.

“My album, Love is a Verb, is all about love. I’m all about the love. I want to release my next album on 14 February next year because I want people to listen to my music and fall in love again.

“All my music is about love. I want the world to know that we need to show a little more love and respect for each other.”

The singer is also in talks about using his music to raise funds for vulnerable mothers and children around the country through his Karabo Mogane Foundation.

With more than 14 000 followers on Twitter and 75 000 likes on Facebook, this small town man shows that it is possible for anyone to make it in the big city.
