Know where you are in the city
JOBURG - It’s time again to find out how well you know Johannesburg City.
Johannesburg can sometimes be a scary place to travel and visit, even if you’re in a group, but City Buzz wants you to know that it doesn’t have to be so because we’re giving you the lowdown on where you are based on the street art you see around you.
This street art can be found in the CBD on Anderson Street just a few streets south of Gandhi Square, and it seems that the graffiti artists in the area are getting into the spirit of Easter. This wall is just walking distance from The Goldmine Café situated next to The Reef Hotel.
If art is what you’re in search of, you could visit the Turret, one of the smallest art galleries in the city.
Should you want to be part of the hustle and bustle of city life, you can take a walk to Main Street where you will find Gandhi Square.
If checking out the Gandhi statue is on your bucket list, this square is the place to do it. The statue stands tall and proud – despite being defaced last year.
This area of town is very busy with daily commuters and it is for the same reason that it can, in fact, be more dangerous than Braamfontein or Newtown.
Don’t be alarmed, just be aware and keep all your valuables concealed.
The city need not be a place to fear or avoid if you make sure to know where you are and take heed of safety tips.
