WATCH: Mozz Kid ready for the big stage

JOBURG - JOHANNESBURG based musician Hogan Antia says it is not easy being a newcomer in the music industry bu hopes his love and passion will carry him through.

Hogan Antia, a Johannesburg-based musician, said although it was not easy being a newcomer in the music industry, he hoped his love and passion would carry him through to becoming a success.

The young rapper, affectionately known as Mozz Kidd, recently released the much-anticipated music video for his hit single I Wanna Know featuring Ricky Rick.

Antia said he chose music because it had always been a hidden passion for many years of his life, but he was glad to be sharing his talent with the rest of the world.

The 19-year-old artist is currently studying law at the University of South Africa and balances his music career with his studies. “I was at the University of Johannesburg last year but I really wanted to balance my career and school, so I figured Unisa would be the best option as I don’t have to be on campus every day,” Antia said.

He also reflected on the challenges he faced as a young up-and-coming artist in the music industry. “It is very difficult to get the masses to listen to your music as they prefer to listen to the artists they are already accustomed to, and in terms of radio and TV playlisting, it also becomes a challenge as they don’t really know you, so they are not interested in playlisting your music.”

He added that he was influenced by local and international artists such as Ricky Rick, Burna Boy, AKA, Davido, Lil Wayne and Drake, to name a few.

If his latest release is anything to go by, this young muso is sure to take the music industry by storm.
