First, he conquered music, now he takes on food

JOBURG – One of Jozi's most successful singers is through dabbling with food and officially makes his start in the culinary industry.

He’s become a name synonymous with food and music and now he’s making his passion his profession, as well.

The frontman of the proudly South African music group Mi Casa, J’Something has had an illustrious time in the spotlight for his hobby – not just for music but also for his skills in the kitchen.

He’s taken on a hit television programme, Something’s Cooking, as well as appearing in the #Knorrwhatsfordinner cooking show. He’s also had his very own stand at the DStv Delicious Food and Music Festival and taken over the Craft Kitchen in Parkhurst, for an entire day.

Now, since becoming a household name in food and music, he is officially opening his own restaurant in Pretoria, Something’s Cooking by J, as part of the Sun International project in Menlyn, Times Square.

“It’s official, I’m opening my first restaurant,” he told his fans on social media.

He’s made it clear that he has no intention to create food that follows a certain type of cuisine, but promises that it will be similar in style to his mix of South African and Portuguese music, and visiting the establishment will be an experience to remember.

He aims to make the atmosphere of the restaurant feel homely and ‘non-pretentious’ to all the people who visit.

Sadly, the offer for the spot at Times Square came just two weeks after the passing of his father who worked at Sun International.

It is not yet clear when the eatery will be open for business, but Gauteng will eagerly await the launch of this amalgamation of the mind of a musician and foodie.
