Pirates Bowls Club buzzes during club competition
After a day of nail-biting bowls action, Pirates Bowls Club members Terri Hill and Jean Lemmer advanced to the next round of the club competition.
The Pirates Bowls Club members put their best feet forward on August 9, during their club championship competition.
Precision and determination were evident on each member’s face as they bowled as closely to the jack as possible. The club competition was an opportunity for the bowls club members to interact and compete against each other.

Terri Hill, winner of the semi-final’s pairs, said she was elated about the win. “I am relieved that we won because it was touch and go.
We were behind for a while and stuck on six points, but we finally got our groove back at the end, and look forward to the next stage.”
Jean Lemmer, winner of the men’s drawn pairs, added that he also looked forward to the next round.
“Today’s competition was made up of different categories, such men’s, ladies, singles, triples, and the drawn pair, where a team is made up from choosing a random name from others. I am happy about the result and look forward to the next round.”

Lemmer recently competed in the champions of champions tournament, which saw club champions from different clubs compete against each other.
“It was a knock-out competition, which had 22 clubs in the pool. I advanced until the final’s where I lost by one point against a Springbok player, but received a silver medal.”
Pirates Club social bowls take place every Sunday from 09:00 to 12:30 and is open to all ages.
There is also a first-class café on site that provides hot beverages and healthy breakfasts, plus an outdoor play facility for children that they can enjoy.
