Are you up to Chow4Change with New Acropolis?
JOBURG – Not many people can say their chow makes a change in society, but New Acropolis sees food differently.
New Acropolis was founded with the purpose of promoting the study of philosophy as a means to incorporate science, arts, ethics and metaphysics to achieve global human development.
One of their projects to achieve their goal is Chow4Change, which was conceptualised in association with Project Dark&COLD.
The objectives of the initiative are to provide dignity to the homeless, who are generally neglected and sidelined in our society, while at the same time raising awareness of their plight, and fostering the spirit of volunteerism in the community.
The idea of Chow4Change is not to simply feed the homeless but to provide them with a dignified dining experience, where they can enjoy a good meal in a restaurant setting.

Director at New Acropolis, Guy Hazon explained the mission of the organisation which speaks to the goals and objectives of Chow4Change.
“There are different virtues that a person can follow, and the idea is that if you follow these virtues in your life, you develop a lifestyle of betterment and of being a better person.”
With Chow4Change being founded in 2014, organisers and volunteers have had the opportunity to host a number of events to raise funds to feed the homeless, as well as to encourage people to volunteer their time or donate food – but they’re not done.
The last fundraiser took place on 22 April, so keep your eyes peeled for their next event and your opportunity to give back to those in need.
