Coming up in the entertainment world
JOBURG – Having attained a diploma and making strides in the South African entertainment landscape, Gift Maifala is one to watch.
Gift Maifala is popularly known as Real Magivano, a South African television and radio personality who was born and raised in the North West province. He moved to Johannesburg to further his studies, as well as to pursue his dreams in the entertainment industry.
After completing his course and attaining a diploma in marketing from Central Johannesburg College, his artistic journey began as he has appeared on the small screen several times as an extra.
“Having to sit on set, looking at the actors doing their thing really got to me, knowing well that I can also perform better. I then decided to take my craft to another level by enrolling at Media Concepts (powered by the SABC), an institution that grooms, prepares and builds television presenters of tomorrow,” explained Maifala.
Now he’s completed the course and refers to himself as a television broadcaster by profession, but maintains he is a man of many talents because acting has always been his first love.
“[I’m] blessed enough to know that there’s more that I can still offer to the industry, because media is a calling to me.”
Currently he is a presenter on #TheUniversityOfHustlers, a youth show that aims at changing lives. “As much as radio is fun, touching lives through this platform is a cherry on top.”
In addition to hosting the Cosmo City Bridge launch, where he shared a stage with the biggest names in the entertainment industry, he was also nominated for Best Radio Presenter at the second Annual Platinum Youth Entertainment Awards, which happened after broadcasting professionally for eight months. “[It] was a humbling moment as I was competing against people who’ve been in the game for almost five years.”
According to Maifala, a nomination on its own is everything.
Even after this journey he is still humble and believes that he hasn’t arrived yet; there’s still more to learn.
