Fashion and art merge in Maboneng
MABONENG – The city was lit with excitement over the weekend, as a number of fashion designers faced off in a runway battle of epic proportions.
The Legacy of True Beauty (TLOTB) brought together a number of designers to show their stuff in Maboneng on 5 May.
TLOTB was founded by Tendai Marowa who aims to empower fashion designers by providing exposure to each individual brand – and, what better place to let the up-and-coming fashion designers be seen than at an extravagant venue in the heart of the city, Maboneng?

Agog Gallery set the scene for the fashion show of epic proportions with hordes of people lining up to get a taste of the fashion action. Cars filled the streets and a number of celebrity guests showed up to get a taste of the fabulous event.

Famed comedian and businessman Nicholas Goliath, as well as brand marketing manager and model Kent Henderson, were just two of the fabulous guests in attendance.
The equally fabulous designer brands on show during the night were Malume, Bouban Clothing, Sluurp, Peu Ya Gauta, Vicsion, Khalaful Kouture, Carrie B Accessories, Masquerade, Nandi Tsale Designs and Royal Clothing, in addition to guest brands on show, Ada Couture and Lindie Designs.

Talking to the media, before the official start of the runway show about the qualities she hopes to find in the designers Marowa said, “We want to see who’d be the best and who’s more dedicated. For me, the industry is not about the glitz and glamour – it’s hard work.”
The TLOTB Designer Launch went off without a hitch and guests were elated by the impressive show that was orchestrated.
