Fête de la Musique all set for this weekend in Newtown
JOBURG – The annual Fête de la Musique music festival is back in Newtown this weekend.
Organisers and all parties involved in the annual Fête de la Musique festival in Newtown are gearing up for the event with a pre-party.
The French Institute of South Africa, the Alliance Française of Johannesburg and a number of sponsors are excited for the annual music festival which aims to promote local and international music by providing a safe and inclusive space for musicians to perform – be they renowned or up-and-coming musicians.

Before the festival, however, organisers have planned a preview on Youth Day on 16 June.
The Market Theatre, Ifas Culture and the Alliance Française of Johannesburg have planned a pre-event at the Windybrow Centre for Arts in Hillbrow – an event to fill Youth Day with the glorious sounds of music and joy.
Performing at the event will be Zama and the Alan, Black Shoes and Sax Machine, among others, with a range of artistic and fun activities to take part in at the venue.

“Beyond a simple celebration, the Fête de la Musique also aims to bring together diverse communities from all walks of life, united in the pleasure of sharing good vibrations,” said Jean Bourdin, director of the Alliance Française of Johannesburg.
This year, the festival is set to host a number of artists and musicians from a multitude of countries including France, Reunion Island, Canada, Southern Africa and of course the locals.
