Eat Out and Mercedes-Benz partner up again for another exciting hunger initiative
JOBURG - Your local restaurant might be the best around but no one else knows, so review it for a good hunger cause.
Eat Out, in partnership with Mercedes-Benz, is once again asking food enthusiasts to help determine the people’s favourite restaurants for the 2017 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Best Everyday Eateries.
For each review posted, Eat Out will also pledge a meal for a hungry child through Stop Hunger Now Southern Africa. Restaurants need to be listed on eatout.co.za to receive reviews and ratings.
A combination of star ratings by the Eat Out panel, which is made up of professional critics, as well as ratings by the public will help determine the best dining spots.

Eat Out editor-in-chief, Anelde Greeff said, “For the third year running, we are looking at star ratings for food, service and ambiance – for the Eat Out audience to determine the best everyday eateries in South Africa. It is also the third year that Mercedes-Benz will sponsor the awards and we couldn’t be more delighted about our ongoing partnership in celebrating local restaurants.”
The categories for each province include best Asian eatery, best bistro, best burger eatery, best coffee shop, best country-style eatery, best Indian eatery, best Italian eatery, best seafood eatery, best steakhouse, best food truck, best tapas eatery and best Mexican eatery.
Food lovers can visit www.eatout.co.za to rate and review the restaurants they have visited. Readers can post as many reviews as they like, but only one per reader per restaurant will be counted. The more votes submitted, the more meals Eat Out will donate in the fight against hunger.
The closing date for reviews by the public for this year’s accolades is 31 August. Celebrations to announce the best everyday eateries will be held in Cape Town and Johannesburg in October.
