Shayne Robinson’s daily vlogs: Crafting coffee in Newtown
JOHANNESBURG – Just walking the streets of Newtown will open your eyes to all sorts of new venues and shops.
Newtown has had many ups and downs over the past few years, but now it seems as if there is a new breath of life in the area.
City Buzz embarked on a walk around the streets and was pleasantly surprised at what is on offer in the area. One of the standouts was the Craft Coffee shop on 50 Gwigwi Mrwebi Street just behind the new Newtown Mall.
It is an expansive space that not only has a coffee shop, but also has its own coffee roastery on the premises. Craft Coffee has been in operation at this venue for three years, according to Bhaveesh Govind, a barrista at Craft Coffee.
“It is one of those hidden gems and we like to keep it that way,” said Govind.
“We roast in house for our mother company, the Daily Buzz and another coffee shop in Johannesburg.”
The shop is open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 4.30pm and is really worth a visit.
Customers will not only be able to have a fantastic cup of coffee, but they will also be able to have a look at the roasting process and purchase various coffees and accessories.
