Keyes Art Mile a perfect spot for sundowners
JOHANNESBURG – The Keyes Art Mile is becoming a must visit for anyone living or visiting Johannesburg.
Just over a year after opening its doors to the public, Johannesburg’s Keyes Art Mile in Rosebank has become firmly entrenched as a must-visit destination.
This for locals and tourists looking to satisfy their cultural thirst for that particular blend of South African top-notch art, design and food.
The precinct has become a superb spot, frequented by locals as they wash away the day with a few sundowners with an unforgettable view. The Keyes Art Mile can offer everything from a really great burger or fine dining to a showcase of contemporary African art and furniture by leading international industrial designers.
The new co-working space at the Mesh Club is one of the most stunning spaces in Johannesburg and its designer interiors definitely make you want to put in a few extra hours of work.
First Thursdays on the mile are an experience that is not quickly forgotten as music spills out onto the newly cobbled avenue lined by vendors of the artful food and fun-filled drinks variety. And new exhibitions opening at regular intervals, create a different experience altogether.
Two of the latest additions are Okapi and The Butchery by Marble. This is Okapi’s first flagship store; the sophisticated modern interior reflects the refined craftsmanship found in every limited edition Okapi piece. The Butchery by Marble offers patrons the opportunity to sit down and have a bite to eat or glass of wine in the most exquisite setting, and locals can frequently be seen popping in to buy their meat for a traditional South African braai from it’s working butchery.
Keyes Art Mile will also add a touch of glamour to year-end-new-beginnings celebratory bubbles with a pop-up champagne bar, Upstairs at Mesh. Running from November to the end of February next year, Mesh and the True Design team are guaranteed to deliver their once-off affair with flair and aplomb.
With a fully developed precinct plan signed off by the city, the Keyes Art Mile has much more lined up for Johannesburg in the very near future.
