Bouwe Bosch and Bennie Fourie star in summer action comedy, Vuil Wasgoed

JOBURG — Vuil Wasgoed is the perfect action comedy film for this summer.

When Wim (Bouwer Bosch) and Kevin (Bennie Fourie) party in the clothes from the laundromat they work in, they make a shocking discovery – a chopped-off finger that belongs to an underhanded jewel thief.

They are forced into a world they know nothing about. Close on their heels are two brothers with a rash, a blind henchman, two top detectives and a ruthless traitor. And somewhere, there’s a shipping container with a valuable treasure waiting to be pounced on by everyone.

Starring Bosch and Fourie, who also wrote and produced the film, and directed by the talented Morné Du Toit, Vuil Wasgoed is a film filled with action and the very best in comedy.

Du Toit said, “When I watched the short film a few years ago, I immediately wanted to get involved in the expanded version of it. I knew that I could bring something unique and special to the story. So, when I got the call from Bennie, I didn’t think twice.”

Du Toit also gives credit to Fourie for putting together a brilliant script for him to work with.

“Just from reading the script I knew that we were about to create something special and something authentic,” he explained. “In South Africa, we have a shortage of great action comedy films. More often than not, people make the mistake of thinking that comedy means acting silly and falling all over but with this film, we tried to change that and I think we were successful.”

Bouwer Bosch, who plays one of the leading characters in the film said working with the cast was a joyful experience. He also said being friends with Fourie made shooting a lot easier.

“Bennie and I have been friends for many years now and on set our chemistry was evident. The script was so well written that it made it easier for us to just flow and feed off each other’s energy and improvise on the spot.”

The film which won five awards at the prestigious Silwerskerm Festival in Camps Bay, opens in select cinemas on the weekend of 8 December 2017. The film will also be screened at the Portland International Film Festival.
