How to avoid stress when moving to a new house
You can avoid the stress of relocating to a new house. Here are top tips on how to peacefully move to a new house from a property expert.

Moving to a new house can be one of the most stressful things one has to experience, and it’s something most people have to go through at some point. Joel Harris from Jawitz Properties Bedfordview shared his top tips on how to move to a new home without having to experience the stress that usually comes with moving house.
- Check out the house before your moving in day
It’s important to check out your new home before your moving in day as the last time you probably were in the house was when it was still occupied by the previous owners. It’s only when all the previous owner’s furniture and other stuff like paintings are gone, that you’ll be aware of what needs a touch up before you move in. The house may need a new coat of paint, or damaged tiles may need to be repaired.
- Ensure the house is thoroughly cleaned
Getting the house thoroughly cleaned before you move in is also a good idea so that you can settle in without having to first clean up any dirt. Ensure you get the carpets cleaned, the bathrooms, kitchen area and bedrooms.
- Declutter
Joel Harris says being organised is the best way to keep possible stress away. Get rid of excess clutter you no longer have a need for, ensure you label boxes correctly and contact the movers way in advance.
“The most important thing to remember is that even though moving is stressful, have fun with it. It’s a new adventure and a step towards the next exciting chapter in your life. Embrace it, resonate with it and just go with the flow. Once you are in and settled, the stress becomes history. Lastly, deal with a reputable estate agent who can guide you through the process from beginning to end. Good luck,” Harris concludes.
