Rand Show is better than ever

JOBURG - Check out what you missed at The Rand Show 2016.

Rand Show organisers lived up to their promises and made sure not to disappoint festivalgoers this year – but that’s no surprise.

The Rand Show, held annually around the Easter holidays, kicked off on 25 March and welcomed thousands through the gates of the Nasrec Expo Centre within the first weekend of the exciting festival.

The multifaceted Easter-time show had a number of exhibitors to see and activities to take part in during the two-weekend-long extravaganza.

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF), festival regulars, took their usual spot at the centre and put on an amazing explosives display, in addition to exhibiting the equipment used by the defence force.

Not forgetting the animal exhibitions that took place over the duration of the festival, visitors were able to take photos with farm animals or get a grip on some scaly serpents at the reptile display.

Adults were made to feel like kids again at the fun fair – they were able to ride massive rollercoasters and a number of other mechanical devices which were sure to get their heart rates way up.

One of the main attractions was undoubtedly the delicious food available at the fair and all the new tastes and smells that festivalgoers were able to enjoy.

Each year there are a number of pageants held, including Mr and Miss Rand Show, as well as Extreme Bodies 2016 and these shows always attract the masses.

Government departments made their appearance at the show, once more, giving the public the chance to engage with them and showcased the capabilities of other departments including the South African Police Service.

With a hall dedicated to home design, another dedicated to education and monster robots, another dedicated to cars and all the exhibitors in-between, there was something for everyone and everyone loved it!
