St Stithians Girls’ College tap dancer represents Team SA

St Stithians Girls’ College learner Rose Villadsen recently represented South Africa at the Tap Dance World Championships in Croatia.

St Stithians Girls’ College learner Rose Villadsen continues to tap her way to the top, having recently represented South Africa at the Tap Dance World Championships in Croatia.

The nationally ranked number two dancer made it all the way to the quarterfinals in her solo, duo, and trio dances.

According to Rose, she missed the mark to make the national team in 2021 by less than 1% so it was rewarding to represent her country.

“It’s extremely exciting to be in the official national team and raise the South African flag at global events. It’s a dream come true to be part of this prestigious group of talented dancers.

“The highlight is obviously being in the National Team, but I also got four gold medals at SABOD qualifiers in Sun City. That was fun!” said Rose.

She added that the competition in Croatia was both an inspiration and a challenge for her.

Rose Villadsen is proud of her achievements in tap dance.

“I finished at the quarterfinals. It was awesome watching two South Africans in the older category advance to the finals. I hope that will be me one day.”
