Hyde Park High celebrates talented learners

It was excitement galore as Hyde Park High School recently hosted its 30th annual music festival.

The festival showcased the musical, dance and cultural talents of the school’s many learners.

According to the school’s communication secretary Avril Wright, this year’s edition of the festival did not disappoint as each of the learners gave it their all on stage.

“There have been many exceptional talents revealed over the years and this event did not disappoint the judges, with countless outstanding performances to keep the crowd entertained.”

This year’s line-up featured a number of fun interactive sing-along love songs; the matric boys presented a throw-back to the 80s with Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance routine.

Wright added that the best overall female performance was awarded to Keratilwe Matome who not only sang but also performed a brilliant dance routine.

“The best overall male performance recipient [was] Dalitso Phiri, revealing his DJ talents as well as presenting an outstanding dance act together with Peter Ndebele.”

Special mention went to Glodiv Ngoie and Joseph Ngoie, two talented musicians, who performed a collaborative piano and guitar piece, leaving the audience in awe of their artistic skills.

“The festival was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and was an eye-opener for many, revealing the hidden talents of Hyde Park High’s learners,” said Wright.
