New addition to Sandton Action Sports
Management of Sandton Action Sports all fired up for the debut of the hockey league.
Sandton Action Sports recently added indoor hockey to their list of sports being offered.
A new mixed league was established in April and six teams participate. The management of the arena is ecstatic to see a demand in the sport.
The evening of May 24 saw Goal Diggers, Above Average and Ernst and Young Sharks battling it out for points.
“The season so far has been shocking. We joined for social intention rather than competing. We are doing well and hoping that we win our games today as we haven’t won any of our league games. Our goal for today is to win a game,” said Lindsay McFarlane, captain of the Goal Diggers.

Her wish came true with McFarlane leading her team to two victories, beating Above Average 5–3 and the Sharks 6–4.
“We started with friendly games in the beginning of the year just to see how the turnout will be if we started a league, and we saw that it was promising to start,” said the night manager of the arena Sam Ndlovu.
“We are currently three weeks into the league. Truth be told, we were expecting less numbers to join and we are happy with our results in building a diverse sport community.”
It remains to be seen which team will take the number one spot in the hockey league but what is certain is that entertainment will be provided through the latest sport offering.
