Sandton resident hopes to inspire

Long-time Sandton resident Beryl Porter is hoping to help more people rediscover the beauty of Africa’s richest square mile.

Long-time resident Beryl Porter hopes to inspire more people with personal tours around Sandton Central.

Porter is looking to bring tourism back to the suburb, introducing people to all that Africa’s richest square mile has to offer.

“After the crazy time that we have just had with the pandemic, I feel that it is important to get more people out and about in Sandton and just bring the energy back to the community.”

She recently took a small group of tourists on a tour highlighting Sandton Central’s key attractions such as the statue of Nelson Mandela in the square, the historically known Balalaika Hotel, the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and Africa’s tallest building, the Leonardo.

“It was amazing to see the city hustling and bustling once again. It is such an inspiration and also exciting to be able to walk in Sandton again.”
