Varsity College students enjoy their social focus week
Local college students based in Sandton had a great social week, which ended with a battle of DJs and MC competitions.
The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton’s Social Focus Week is one of the highlights of the month for the students at the college.
The college recently hosted one that aimed at showcasing what the social committee on campus has to offer.
During this week, students engage with others to create a sense of belonging.
Other events on Social Focus Week’s calendar include a car wash and a movie night to close off the week.
The social committee supports and works closely with the public relations and events coordinator to create a holistic experience for the students and ensure a balance between their academics and social lives throughout the year.
The May social week event saw Lesedi Janyjies, known as DJ LSD, a second-year student, win the battle of DJs competition; a first-year student came second, and the ‘So you think you can MC’ competition title was given to Bakuena Bohloko, a second-year Bachelor of Commerce in Law student.
Janyjies said, “I signed, and after coming in second against some serious competition, I decided to work harder for this year. I am extremely excited about exploring this new title and about entertaining students on and off campus during events.”
