Call for urgent Johannesburg Water public meeting in Sandton

In an open letter sent to JW’s managing director Ntshavheni Mukwhevo, on July 14, Shackleford demands a public meeting within 14 days to address the crisis.
The letter, supported by councillors from wards 90, 91, 106, and 109, highlights the widespread and deeply damaging impact of ongoing water disruptions, billing errors, and inadequate maintenance.
“We need clear answers and immediate action,” said the letter. “This is not just about inconvenience; it’s a crisis affecting health, safety, and livelihoods.”
The councillor pointed to repeated pipe bursts in Bryanston, year-long repair delays in Sandown, and the five-day outage triggered by the Linbro Park incident, which left parts of Sandton dry and hospitals scrambling.
She has called on JW to present plans for infrastructure upgrades, improved local communication, and resolved billing and service complaints.
Residents are being urged to read and share the letter and prepare to attend the public meeting once a date is confirmed.
