Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo said preliminary findings suggest the fire was started by rubbish burning on the premises. “One person sustained minor burn injuries to the wrist and received medical attention.”

Khumalo said Johannesburg EMS continues to urge residents not to ignite open fires and to exercise caution with electrical appliances to prevent similar incidents.
