Warrior FC kick-starts early pre-season training
Local players at Parkmore have started early pre-season training to help young players sharpen their skills ahead of the new season.
Warrior FC held an early, pre-season training session on January 22, giving young players a head start ahead of the club’s official return to training in early March.

Speaking during the session, head coach Herold Matodzi said the early practices were introduced for players who want to sharpen their skills and prepare themselves before the full squad returns. “This is mainly for players who want to be a step ahead of other kids when the club officially starts. We are allowing them to work on their skills before everyone comes back.”

According to Matodzi, the club’s main training programme is scheduled to begin on March 2, but the early sessions allow committed players to maintain fitness, improve technique, and build confidence ahead of the new season.

The pre-season training sessions are open to various age groups, including U7s to U14s. Training runs for about an hour, focusing on basic fitness, ball control, and overall development.

Matodzi said the initiative also helps coaches assess players early and set the tone for discipline and commitment before competitive fixtures begin. “With these sessions, players come back ready, not rusty.”
