Ward 91 councillor flags alleged illegal billboard at Innesfree Park
A tip-off about a billboard being erected without approval at Innesfree Park has led Ward 91 councillor Andrew Stewart to sniff out the truth.
The alarm has been raised by Ward 91 councillor Andrew Stewart over what he describes as an attempted illegal billboard installation at Innesfree Park.

Stewart said he visited the park after receiving a tip-off about a structure being erected. According to him, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo confirmed that no permission had been granted for a billboard at the site. He further alleged that former employees, linked to the city’s outdoor advertising directorate in development planning, may have been involved in the attempt.

He added that illegal outdoor advertising remains a challenge across the City of Johannesburg, saying that councillors have repeatedly highlighted the issue.

He encouraged residents to report any suspicious billboard activity in their communities, to ensure that all installations are properly authorised.
