South African DJ Abidoza shifts to energetic club sound with new single featuring Djy Vino
Sandton-based DJ and producer Abidoza is exploring a heavier, more energetic side of his artistry with his latest single, Club What, featuring Djy Vino.
South African DJ and music producer Amogelang Thorne Chabangu, better known as Abidoza, is entering a new chapter in his career with the release of Club What, featuring Djy Vino.
The Sandton-based artist, with more than a decade of experience in the music industry, is best known for his soulful, melodic approach to amapiano. However, his latest single sees him move towards an energetic club sound designed for dance floors, festivals, and DJ sets.

Chabangu first gained nationwide recognition in 2018 with Baby Boy, before releasing his debut album, Musical Touch, in 2019.
Since then, he has built an extensive catalogue that includes Siyathandana, Dinaledi, Black Child, and Pianochella. His career has also included collaborations with prominent artists such as Cassper Nyovest, Major League, Focalistic, Davido, and CKay.
According to Chabangu, Club What represents a deliberate departure from the sound audiences have come to associate with him. “People know me for my soulful and smooth sound, so this project is really about showing another side of me,” he said.
The producer said he last explored a heavier club sound about six years ago and felt it was time to challenge himself creatively. Club What is the first single from his upcoming eight-track EP, Club Controller.

The project will further explore his identity as a performing DJ, with tracks created with the club environment and dance floor in mind.
The single has already begun gaining organic attention on TikTok and through DJ sets ahead of its official release. “Club Controller is about me exploring a side of my music that I haven’t really shown people before. The songs are more energetic and made with the DJ and the dance floor in mind.”
Another single is expected ahead of the full EP release, setting the stage for Chabangu’s new club-driven direction ahead of the summer season.
Originally from Marokolong in Hammanskraal, Chabangu developed his production skills by travelling to Johannesburg to spend time in recording studios.
His journey has since taken him from an aspiring producer to one of South Africa’s recognised musical arrangers and hitmakers.
