The evening is a tradition and it is a highlight on their calendar every year. Each teacher read and re-enacted a story for their pupils. Pupils were allowed to attend in their pyjamas and slippers. There was a selection of funny, exciting and scary books to read from, and each provoked a different emotion from the pupils. The children are still learning how to read, so picture books were their favourite books to glance through, and the parents had a fun time sharing their experience.
One mother, Catharine Pretorius, wanted to thank the school for making story-time such a highlight in her house.
“My children can’t wait for story time and were extremely excited to hear that Crawford has a story evening at the school, and even more so when they heard that they were able to attend in their pyjamas,” she said.
Her children Jessica and David “absolutely loved attending the story evening with their classmates”.
Pretorius said her favourite book as a child was The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton, and she hoped that her children would also come to love it as she did.
