A tournament fit for a queen
CHESS for All will host the South African Women's Open Chess Championship 2013 in Woodmead, between 8 and 11 August.

This is the first year the tournament will be an international event, with top junior and senior female players from across the continent expected to participate.
Chess for All is a new chess initiative which aims to promote chess among women, promoting the educational, social and competitive benefits of the game.
Since its conception in February this year, the project has targeted high schools in the Johannesburg area, with 600 pupils now participating. The top 200 of these female players have been selected to participate in the development section of the upcoming championships.
In a further bid to promote the game of chess, Chess for All, in partnership with Sandton City, Nelson Mandela Square, will host a simultaneous chess event from 12pm to 2pm on 7 August, where the top female player will take on as many opponents at once, playing against 30 of the development players. There will also be an opportunity for the public to play against our top South African female players.
