Use of jamming devices ongoing

The Sandton police are once again warning residents about the ongoing use of jamming devices to stop cars from locking.

“The best measure for the public is to check manually that their vehicle is locked,” said Sandton police spokesperson, Captain Kym Cloete.

She also advised the community to be aware of people loitering in parking areas or sitting in stationary vehicles.

“Suspicious activity can be reported to the management of the centre as well as the police on 10111.”

These are the hot spot areas:

q Petrol stations (community members tend to pop into the shop quickly and aren’t alert to the fact that their car isn’t locking)

q Primary schools

q Shopping centres

q Gyms

The drivers of the following vehicles have been seen committing offences where jamming devices were used:

q Black Ford Focus with GP registration

q Gold Mercedes Benz C class

q White Colt bakkie
