He said, “My residents and ward committee members’ support and contributions help to make the city more accountable to its ratepayers.” Earp said this year the City of Johannesburg had re-marked some roads, however the paint seemed to be of poor quality and faded within a few months.

“They have replaced storm water covers, repaired potholes, replaced signage and served notice on some unscrupulous developers and recalcitrant landowners,” he added.

Earp said there was, however constant problems of blocked storm water drains especially on Ballyclare Drive. “There has been lots of promises but no action,” he said. “Our bridges are in dire need of repair, potholes appear around the ward daily and residents still suffer constant water outages due to burst pipes.

“We are tackling the taxi issues and the never ending billing problems. We need to continually report our issues to the relevant city entities and to hold them accountable.”

Earp said he hoped the New Year would bring good news. He said the city council would start on the re-surfacing of selected roads next year and Johannesburg Water had a water pipe replacement project starting in Morningside.

“I wish all my residents a wonderful and relaxing holiday season. Let us work together towards improving our community,” said Earp.
